Poplin
A simple weave tightly woven with fine yarns, the Poplin is the lightest of all with a smooth, silky feel. The crisp look when ironed makes it a popular choice for dress shirts and formal events, usually in the warmer months of the year due to its light weight.
Oxford
One of the thicker fabric weaves created with coarser yarns, in a basket weave. Not suitable for formal wear, the Oxford is usually paired with button-down collars for casual shirts. The heavier weight of this weave make it a popular choice for the cooler winter months.
Twill
The diagonal weave creates a more sturdy structure making this fabric more substantial than the Poplin. The structure makes it easy to iron and gives a soft feel. Popular choice for business shirts, the twill weave allows the fabric to hang well.
Pinpoint
A lighter weight than an oxford weave, and heavier than a poplin, pinpoint fabric sits somewhere in the middle of the two in terms of substantiality and formality.
Herringbone
