We're award nominated! Tibard started 2020 with the honour of being nominated for a North West Family Business Award
Here at Tibard, we are absolutely chuffed to bits to be nominated for a North West Family Business Award.
The first awards of its kind in the region, the North West Family Business Awards highlights a multitude of companies across a wide range of sectors who’ve found their success going into business as a family.
Tibard is competing against other esteemed companies in the region in the Large Manufacturing & Engineering category alongside such great businesses like George Coz & Sons and Glossop Cartons. We are thrilled to be recognised by the judges in this competition, especially in our fortieth year of operations as a family company.
Tibard’s beginnings were that of a quintessential Northern family business, as John and Sue Shonfeld started the company from their spare room at their home in Mottram.
They were one of the first companies to integrate the production and laundering of chefswear into one easy to manage service, and it was widely popular with plenty of restaurants right from the start. But in those humble beginnings their sons Matt and Rick were helping out with the business sparking a connection with Tibard they’d carry with them through life.
The nomination is the culmination of all that work to bring Tibard for an operation inside a family home to the multimillion-pound company it is today. As the family is part of the tenants, Tibard is built on, throughout the years as we try to treat every customer, staff member and supplier as a part of the family. So we’re about building a community where everyone feels at home no matter their connection to the company.
It’s one of the reasons we’re exceptionally honoured that it’s not just the Shonfeld’s who have two generations working at Tibard. From sales to digital and from sewing to finishing, there are many members of the same family working under the Tibard roof.
It’s a huge compliment when someone thinks Tibard is a good place for their family to work, and we always drive to be a workplace where everyone can treat each other like family. Now we’re eagerly awaiting the announcement of the winners on March 6th and best of luck to all other nominees!
