Changing the way that you view uniform could lead to big savings without compromising on style. Here's our take on what alternatives you can use instead of the standard formal wear.
First, you should think about what would be considered a “standard” uniform. A smart shirt, formal trousers and a short apron is a popular combination in many hospitality-related businesses. So how can this look be altered?
Switch shirts & blouses for t-shirts and formal trousers for jeans/chinos
A simple way of saving money on your uniform is using a t-shirt or polo shirt instead of shirts and blouses. Often, these come in a wider range of colour options and are also more versatile when it comes to customisation options. While embroidery is the only long-term option for formal shirts, t-shirts are a fantastic canvas for screen printing as well as embroidery.
Formal trousers are a great option for front of house uniforms, but if you have a more relaxed setting, jeans or chinos can be an equally good fit. Due to the range of colour options available and the visually impactful nature of jeans and chinos, you can create a standout look and save yourself a chunk of change.
Consider different accessories
You could also save money by considering your accessory options. Peripherals can add neat finishing touches to a smart uniform, but if you are going for a slightly more casual look, a tie will not be necessary. Additionally, scarves for women look just as smart as ties but don’t cost as much, while adding a different touch to your uniform.
Use the money you’ve saved to add a touch of class and make a statement
Now, you could elect to bank your saved money and use it elsewhere, but why not add something truly unique to make a real statement? For example, if your uniform has an apron, upgrading to an Oliver Harvey denim apron will give your uniform that star quality and a touch of class to get you and your brand noticed.
