Tibard have been making chef clothing and restaurant uniforms since 1979 and we recently had a route through the archives to find this gem of a range. This is the uniform that we provided to our very first national client Beefeater, a business that we still work with to this day. Read on for another image and more details.

If anything proves that fashion changes and times move on, it is these two images from our very first brochure. This range for Beefeater was one of the very first core lines that we manufactured, way back when Tibard were founded in 1979. In those days we still relied on outworkers to produce our uniforms and were still run out of the back of our chairman’s family home.

The images show our first range of chef uniforms with a chefs coat favoured over a chef jacket and a butchers bib with stripes that don’t quite go in the right direction. These were obviously the days before we knew that horizontal stripes are fattening! The blue and white gingham chef trousers are possibly one of the only similarities with the chef uniforms of today. The second image is quite striking in that the man in the suit could looks as if he could have been photographed yesterday. The waitress styles not so much…although we are big fans of the Beefeater tunic!

While it is a great bit of fun to see a blast from the past like this, there is a serious side to it. These uniforms for Beefeater represent the first stage in a business relationship that has lasted over 34 years, in our industry that is no easy task. So while we are unlikely to be resurrecting this range for Beefeater any time soon, we are hopeful to still be working alongside them in years to come.
